SPEAKER FOR FOOD FOR THE POOR
On Saturday, October 24 and
Sunday, October 25, we will welcome Father Larry Bower, begging for spiritual
and financial assistance on behalf of Food for the Poor. God has gifted Father
Larry with a real appreciation of what the generosity of people can do to help
the very poorest of God’s poor. This has led him to full-time ministry with
Food for the Poor, the largest international relief and development
organization in the nation. With more than 97% of all donations going directly
to programs that help those in need, Food for the Poor provides nourishing
food, safe shelter, necessary medical care, educational materials, support for
orphans and the aged, and much more to the poorest of the poor in 17 countries
in the Caribbean and Central America

THE COMMUNITY CUPBOARD would like to thank you for your third quarter
contribution of 660 food items. Your year to date total is 1,787 items. We are
dependent on charitable contributors like you. Without continued support from
our community, churches, businesses, schools and organizations, we would not be
able to provide much needed food assistance to over 13,000 people annually.
Please pass along our continued gratitude to your employees and members. Please
keep our families in mind for the upcoming holiday season. We do not have a
holiday basket program, but our families are always looking for holiday type
food in November and December. If you know of anyone willing to donate a
turkey, ham or chicken for the holiday, encourage him or her to contact the Community
Cupboard at 747-6119. We will see that it gets to an appreciative family.
BLIZZARD
BAGS
The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a cold, snowy winter. Please help the
Council on Aging to provide bundles of shelf stable foods to 800 homebound or
isolated seniors, for “emergency stash” on a day we can’t deliver Meals on
Wheels. We are asking for your help with donations of some specific items:
6.75 – 8
ounce fruit juice (100% juice) – juice boxes
4 ounce peaches,
pears, mandarin oranges, pineapple or fruit cocktail – snack packs
4 ounce
apple sauce – snack packs
4 ounce
pudding – snack packs
The collection will take place from now until Sunday, November 1. There
are Blizzard Bag boxes at the entrances of St. Peter’s and St. Dominic’s.
