PROCTOR FALL FESTIVAL REPORT

My sincere appreciation goes out to those who helped with St. Dominic’s fried bread dough fund raiser on September 19, 2009. Thank you to Bob Coons, Sabrina & Matt McDonough, Gerry Carrington, Andy Allard, Kevin Duggan and Mike Scarzello. After a cold start, it warmed up nicely and a good time was had by all.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jennie Ryan who will be 97 years old on October 6, 2009!

 

 

 

On Sunday, October 4, we will have the blessing of the animals in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi at 2:00 PM on the front lawn of St. Peter’s Rectory.

  

On Sunday, October 11, after the 11:00 AM Mass, we will have the rededication of the Holy Family Shrine which was beautifully restored by Adam De Blasio and his helpers as his Eagle Scout Project.

 

BISHOP’S FUND

The Most Reverend Salvatore R. Matano, Bishop of Burlington, would like to thank St. Peter and St. Dominic parishioners for achieving and surpassing our 2009 goal for the Annual Bishop’s Fund. BLOOD DRIVE – A blood drive will be held at Grace Congregational Church, 8 Court St., Rutland on Tuesday, October 13 from noon until 6:00 PM.

 


 

CROP WALK FOR HUNGER will be held on Sunday, October 18th. Registration is at 1:00 PM and the walk begins at 1:30 PM starting at Grace Congregational Church for 1 and 5 mile routes. The Crop Walk, sponsored by Church World United, is a community based, interfaith and all ages walking together to take a stand against world hunger. 25% of the monies collected in pledges by the walkers is given to the Rutland Community Cupboard. CATHOLIC BOOK CLUB FOR WOMEN

The book for October is the Pope’s new Encyclical, “Caritas in Veritate”. You can download and print it out for free (about 50 pages) off the Vatican website, or you can order it from Amazon.com for $6.95. They will meet on October 6 from 7:00 – 8:30 PM in Engel Hall at Christ the King Church to discuss this book.

 

HARVEST DINNER – Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 18 Lincoln Ave., will have a Harvest Dinner in St. Anne’s Hall with turkey, ham and all the fixings on Saturday, October 17 beginning at 5:00 PM. Adults $10; children ages 6-12 $5.00 and children under age 5 are free. Tickets are available at IHM after the Masses, at the IHM Parish Office or at the door

 


 

BLIZZARD BAGS

The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts a cold, snowy winter. Please help the Council on Aging to provide bundles of shelf stable foods to 800 homebound or isolated seniors, for “emergency stash” on a day we can’t deliver Meals on Wheels. We are asking for your help with donations of some specific items:

 

6.75 – 8 ounce fruit juice (100% juice) – juice boxes

4 ounce peaches, pears, mandarin oranges, pineapple or fruit cocktail – snack packs

4 ounce apple sauce – snack packs

4 ounce pudding – snack packs

The collection will take place from now until Sunday, November 1. There are Blizzard Bag boxes at the entrances of St. Peter Church.

 

 

 

Fr. Richard Crawley will offer a

Mass of Thanksgiving at the 5:15 PM Mass

at St. Peter on Saturday, October 17.

 

St. Peter and St. Dominic will host a

parish pot luck dinner at 6:30 PM at

St. Dominic Parish Hall.

We invite everyone to attend and participate in this joyful occasion.
