ASSISTED LIVING FOR SENIORS

As people grow older, they sometimes need a little help to remain living in their own homes or apartments. There are many options in our area to help preserve a person’s independence:  home-care services, emergency response call systems, meals on wheels transportation programs, adult day programs, etc. If someone truly cannot remain living at home, possible alternatives are assisted living, residential care homes and nursing homes. To find out information about assistance both in or out of the home, including how one pays for that care, call the Senior HelpLine at 786-5991 or 1-800-642-5119; this is a free service.

16-DAY MEDITERRANEAN ADVENTURE

An exciting 12-night cruise on the NORWEGIAN JADE from Barcelona with a first-class hotel stay before and after the cruise. Chance to visit Eternal Rome; call in Athens, cradle of civilization; opportunity to tour ancient Ephesus from Izmir; on to Alexandria, from where you may visit Cairo and see the Great Pyramids at Giza and all in scenic Valletta, Malta, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Tour will be led by Fr. Joseph Romano, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Parish, Pittsford, VT. For expanded information, please email him at jromano36@gmail.com or call 802-483-2301.

PRAYER FOR THE NATION

God of our forebears,

in tumultuous times our ancestors made their way

to a new land, seeking prosperity and peace.

The wealth of a new nation lay before them,

as well as the challenge to use wisely

the gifts of the good earth

and the industriousness of a people

forged in the crucible of revolution

and the high-minded ideals of life and liberty.

Strengthen within us the pursuit of justice,

the desire for equality, the love of true freedom.

May all the citizens of our country

work unceasingly to promote the common good

so that all may share in the pursuit of happiness

sought by the founders of our land.

Amen.
