Adam De Blasio’s Eagle Scout Project on the Holy Family Shrine is still
progressing. Adam has not received any more donations this week. He is looking
to raise another $675 to put a wooden cross in front of the statues on the hill
and replace four marble pieces on the cross on the ground. He also wants to put
marble chips all around the statues. There was some vandalism this past weekend
but Shawn Holden came back and cleaned it up. If you would like to donate to
this project, please mail it to, or drop it off at St. Peter’s Rectory. Please
make your checks payable to Adam. Thank you for your generous donations so
far.

I would like to thank all
those on the Assumption Day Committee for their hard work for our Procession
and Picnic. It was again a very successful event for St. Peter Parish. Thank you
for your support and generosity.
BISHOP’S FUND
The 2009 Bishop’s Fund

$36,511 of their $37,925 goal – St. Dominic’s has raised a total of $9,365 of
their $10,295 goal. Thank you to
everyone who has already made a gift to this year’s effort. If you have not yet
made your gift, envelopes are available at the entrances of both Churches.

RCIA PROGRAM
FOR BELIEVERS AND WOULD-BE BELIEVERS
The RCIA process is designed
to help persons in one or more of the following groups:
- Catholics who want to deepen their understanding
of their Faith.
- Adult Catholics preparing for 1st
Communion and Confirmation.
- Returning Catholics.
- Non-Catholics who want to learn more about
Catholic Christianity.

Catholic Church.
RCIA is the process of
learning and living the message of Jesus as revealed in the Scriptures and in

The Activities Committee
would like to thank all who participated in the Feast of the Assumption Picnic
on August 16. It seemed that everyone had a fun time.
There are so many people who
contributed to this wonderful event. We would like to thank the Knights of
Columbus for being part of our ceremony and leading the procession, Joe Tilden
who obtained the permit for the procession, Lena Tedesco and Nancy Benincasa
for collecting for the flowers, everyone who donated money for the flowers and
the people who participated in the procession, Joe Eno for getting the MSJ gym,
MSJ for letting us use the gym, Caprice Hover for the soda, our cooks, Cheryl
& George Hooker, Carol & Joe Barbagallo, Helen Shappy, Chris Tedesco
and Lorraine Canty and all the people who helped set up, serve and clean up,
Heidi, Steve, Trey, Nick, Sue, Joe, Les Eno, Beth, Joe & Nichole. We know
there were others helping to set up the tables but we didn’t get their names.
Thanks again to Jim Davidson for his music before, during and while we cleaned
up. Helen and Ann for collecting the money, Bob Walsh for the donation of the
hamburger rolls. Tony Romeo once again helped with the meat from Cartiers,
Angie and Dick for the salads and the extra help, Carol and Wayne (our soda
monitors and their family), Pete Giancola for the griddle and grill, Dan O’Hara
for picking them up, Misty Meadows for the water and Linda for getting
announcement to the various parishes, Joe Eno who printed the tickets. Thanks
to Trey and Nick who sold the 50/50 raffle tickets, they were also our
photographers. Thank you to the Tedesco family for preparing the statue of the
Blessed Mother to be moved for our procession. We do appreciate everyone who
had a hand in this fun time. There are always so many people behind the scenes,
we certainly don’t want to miss mentioning them, but we may miss a few…If we
missed mentioning you, we are sorry.
The weather was very warm.
Thank goodness we were inside, out of the blazing sun. It was a great time and we hope everyone had a chance to visit with
each other and enjoy the Feast of the Assumption picnic. See you next year!
If anyone has any suggestions
to incorporate into this get together, please call Sue Ahearn at 775-7398.
